Native Americans practice thankfulness on a daily basis. Native Americans express their gratitude for everything in nature, from the stars in the sky to the land they walk on, from their families to their ancestors, and from their Creator to their fellow humans.
They also give thanks at a variety of festivals, feasts, and crucial times of the year, particularly during the growing and harvest seasons.
We've convened today to observe how life's cycles continue. We have been entrusted with the responsibility of living in balance and harmony with one another and all living things. As a result, we now bring our brains together as one as we greet and thank each other as individuals. We are all grateful to our Mother, the Earth, for providing us with all we require to live. As we go around on her, she supports our feet. It brings us joy to know that she continues to look after us in the same way she has since the beginning of time. We express congratulations and gratitude to our mum. We express our gratitude to all of the world's waters for soothing our thirst and supplying us with strength. Water is the source of all life. Waterfalls and rain, mists and streams, rivers and oceans are all examples of its might. We express greetings and thanks to the Water Spirit as a group. We focus our attention on all of the aquatic creatures. They were told to purify and cleanse the water. They also offer themselves as food to us. We are thankful that pure water is still available. So, we'd like to extend our greetings and gratitude to the Fish. Now we'll look at the huge expanses of plant life. Plants grow as far as the eye can see, performing several miracles. They support a diverse range of living forms. We give thanks and look forward to seeing Plant life for many generations to come with our minds grouped together. We turn to respect and thank all of the Food Plants we harvest from the garden as a group. Grains, vegetables, beans, and berries have been used to help people survive from the beginning of time. They provide strength to many other living creatures as well. We assemble all of the Plant Foods into one group and send them a thank-you note. Now we'll look at all of the world's medicinal plants. They were told from the start to get rid of the disease. They are constantly ready and eager to heal us. We are grateful that there are still a select few among us who remember how to use these herbs for healing. We express greetings and gratitude to the Medicines and the Medicine Keepers as a group. We join our minds to convey welcomes and thanks to all of the world's animal life. They have a lot to teach us as individuals. They honor us by giving up their lives so that we can use their bodies as sustenance for our people. They can be found near our homes and deep in the woods. We are grateful that they are still with us, and we hope that this will continue to be the case. Now we move our attention to the trees. There are numerous different tree families on the planet, each with their unique set of instructions and functions. Others offer us with fruit, beauty, and other valuable things, while others provide us with shelter and shade. A tree is a symbol of calm and strength for many people around the world. We greet and thank the Tree life as a whole.
