Jesus Skull Christ Victory Over Death

Easter is one of my favorite times of the year! Easter is the day on which we, along with Christians all around the world, remember the most significant event in human history: the Resurrection of the Son of God from the grave, his resurrection from the dead. Among all the facts of mortality, nothing is as certain as death's end. The pain of those who have been left behind is devastating and heartbreaking. The bereft and alone father, the bereaved widow, the orphaned child—all may tell of the anguish of separation.

God, on the other hand, deserves credit for the majesty and awe of His eternal plan. Thank God for His Beloved Son, who gave His life on the cross of Calvary to pay the dreadful price for deadly sin. It was He who broke the bonds of death with His atoning sacrifice and triumphantly rose from the tomb with heavenly might. He is both our Redeemer and the Redeemer of humanity as a whole. He is the Saviour of the World. The Son of God is the Author of our Salvation.

His death was a sign of His unconditional love for all humanity. His Resurrection made salvation possible for all of God's sons and daughters throughout history.

In all of history, there has never been a majesty like His majesty. He, the all-powerful Jehovah, humbled himself to be born in a Bethlehem stable as a human being. He "increased in intellect and size, as well as in favor with God and man" as he grew up in Nazareth (Luke 2:52).

Victory over Death

Those who loved Him had their aspirations dashed. He'd forgotten about the vows He'd made. His body was quickly but respectfully buried in a borrowed grave on the eve of the Jewish Sabbath. We didn't see the Sabbath had passed us by. Then, early the next morning, Mary Magdalene and a group of women appeared at the grave. They questioned how the stone could be rolled out of the sepulchre's door in such a hurry. When they came, an angel welcomed them, saying, "I know you seek Jesus, the crucified."

"He is not here, for he has risen, as he declared" (Matthew 28:5–6).

It was the first time it had ever happened. The empty tomb provided the answer to the age-old question. "Where is thy sting, death?" Paul was ecstatic. "Where is thy victory, grave?" says the narrator. 1 Corinthians 15:55 is a verse from the New Testament.

The miracle of that first Easter Sunday morning, the morning of the resurrection, is a miracle for all of humanity. It is a wonder of God's power that His Beloved Son gave His life as a loving sacrifice to atone for the sins of all God's sons and daughters. The seals of death were broken as a result.

We're all going to die one way or another. But that's not the end of the story. Everyone of us will continue to live as individual personalities capable of learning, teaching, and other activities, just as He taught those who were capable of being taught in the spirit realm.

We, too, shall experience a reunion of body and spirit on the day of our own resurrection to become living souls, just as He did when He took up His body and rose from the tomb.

As a result, when we remember the most amazing, most consoling, and most reassuring event in human history—the victory over death—we exult, as do many others, and as should all of mankind.
